Aufseiten der Technischen Universität Schlesien waren Aleksandra Badura (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin), Paweł Badura (Professor am Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence), Joanna Czajowska (Professorin am Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence) und Ewa Piętka (Head of Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence) vertreten.
DMGD and Silesian University of Technology plan cooperation
In November, representatives of the Digital Model Region Healthcare Tripoint (Siegen, Germany) visited the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland.
In order to address current and future challenges in the healthcare system, research and academic networking are required – not only within individual countries, but also internationally. That is why a delegation of the School of Life Sciences at the University of Siegen and its research focus Digital Model Region Healthcare Tripoint (DMGD) recently traveled to Gliwice. At the Silesian University of Technology, they exchanged ideas and discussed a possible cooperation with scientists from the Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence.
What does DMGD stand for? With its research projects and initiatives, the DMGD is responding to the challenges facing the health sector especially in rural areas. Here, fewer and fewer general practitioners (GPs) are setting up practice. At the same time, the patient bases the existing practices have to care for are growing. Modern digital technologies may have the potential to ensure health care in the long term, even in rural areas, and can relieve the burden on staff as well as on stakeholders in the health system.
The two-day exchange to Gliwice was attended by Rainer Brück (Chair of Healthcare Informatics and Microfabrication), Olaf Gaus (Senior Science Manager DMGD), Kai Hahn (Research assistant), and Christian Weber (Acting professor Medical informatics with a focus on mobile health information systems). Aleksandra Badura (Research assistant), Paweł Badura (Professor Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence), Joanna Czajowska (Professor Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence), and Ewa Piętka (Head of Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence) represented the Silesian University of Technology.
During the meeting, the secure transport of medical data was identified as a possible topic for collaboration in the field of digital health. Both teams want to launch a cooperation between Siegen and Gliwice by applying to the ERASMUS+ funding and the bilateral Poland-Germany program. The working group wants to remain in close contact and meet again soon.
